Women take-up almost all responsibility for meeting basic needs of their family, yet they are denied the resources, information, opportunity and freedom of action they need to execute this responsibility.
The greater part of the world’s poor are women. The two-thirds of the world’s illiterate population are women. Millions of school age children are not in school.
Many part of the world, millions of people eat two or three times a day, but a higher percentage of women eat only once. Many women deny themselves even one meal to ensure that their children are fed. These women are already suffering the effects of malnutrition, which inevitably will be their children’s fate will be.
Research show that when women are supported and empowered, all of the society benefits. Their families become healthier and strong, more children go to school, agricultural productivity improves and incomes surely increases. In short, communities become more vibrate.
VACDA-GHANA believes that empowering women to be key change agents is an important element to achieving success for the world. As part of our programs VACDA-GHANA aims to support women & youth and build their capacity.
Programs such as: Animal rearing , farming, micro financing, scholarship for young girls who for some reasons have giving birth to one or two or even more who want to continue their education to junior or senior high school, sewing, hair dressing and many more are the major programs for women.
